Warning on Use of Standard LR6 AA...
It must be one of those love and hate relationship.
For the love of AA batteries, they push the D300s frame rate to 7.7fps (still not 8fps unless you shoot with the EN-EL4 on MB-D10). For the hate of it, they drain faster than you can say “shoot” and recharges back to her usable state only after a seriously long while.
Not suitable for any real world application in my opinion.

Nikon D300s Problem with AA Batteries
Have you guys been shooting your D300s with a MB-D10 packed with AAs? And when the battery goes on the D300s, the camera simply shuts down, while refusing to automatically switch to the Eight AA batteries on the battery grip!
